Lesson Cancelled?

Hi everybody! How are you? I hope you're all doing well. I have had such a busy week, but it's been good! I'm pleased with how well things have picked up here. I went to the YSA branch for church, and it was pretty fun. I brought muffins for the breakfast-themed linger-longer, which was good. At my grandma's house, we've finished with all of the records she had in her folder downstairs, so we pulled a lot more down from upstairs. I'm so excited to work with those! It's some of my favorite work to do! At FHE this week we did a video game night. I played Super Smash Bros, and did not know what was going on. I also did some card games and this one game that was like Kahoot. It was pretty fun. Wednesday and Thursday were super busy with helping the Reno Food Bank. We were at the Catholic Church in Elko. It was a lot of fun to do. I moved so many juice boxes! I taught English class twice this week, but on Monday and Wednesday instead of Wednesday and Friday. On...

Hi everybody! How are y'all doing? I hope you've had a good week, 'cause I know I have! On Monday I played this game called "Oompa," which is a mix between basketball, football, and ultimate frisbee. I absolutely loved it! But the shoes I was wearing are not good for that kind of thing. I got some really big skin peels. I did a bit of digitizing records this week. I've really come to enjoy it! It's so cool to learn firsthand about my ancestors and all of the things that they went through for me to have a good life today. On Wednesday I had a pretty busy day! First I helped some folks move, and then helped at the soup kitchen in Elko. I finally taught English class, but kept running out of things! I need to plan better in advance. I did prepare some extra resources for the two who are more advanced in the class, but only one of them even came, and I've been having trouble having them split up to work on different things at the same time. Friday was my...

English Class Started!

Hello everybody! Things are starting to pick up here! I've started helping my mom to cook lunch on busy days. I've done pizza and fried chicken so far. I think they turned out pretty good. I also have started teaching science to my little brothers and one of my cousins, which didn't turn out the best, but was ok. On Wednesday and Friday I taught English in Wells! We (my mom came too) did it at the church there, and I feel like the two classes I did went well. We did a beginning test to evaluate where they were with each person doing the class for the first time. We did go over a few basic things both times. I was just so surprised by how little material I was able to put in two hours. I was worried we'd run out of things to talk about. I also went to help Brother Thomas with English class in Elko. I can't say I helped him much, but he definitely helped me with some ideas on what I can do in my class. One big thing I've really enjoyed is the family history work...

It's Temple Time!

Image
Hi everybody! This week has been slow! This adjusting thing is pretty hard, but we're getting there! It was good to see everyone in my home ward, and there are some new faces there. Something that surprised me is how tall everyone is now! All of the young men have shot up, and it kinda scares me. After church, Brother Anderson (my great uncle) asked me to teach Sunday School for the YSA in our ward for tomorrow. I'm excited! I hope that I'll do well. New Year's was good. I got to stay up, and made New Year's day my "P-Day," but I'm doing all my emails today while traveling back from the temple! More on that later. This week we moved wood for my Grandpa. My brothers and I loaded his truck with logs he had cut from an area near a creek that he owns (Boulder Creek). We did get stuck, but got ourselves unstuck by partially filling the truck, putting bark underneath the tires, lots of rocking back and forth, and multiple attempts. We almost had to get Grand...
