English Class Started!
Hello everybody! Things are starting to pick up here! I've started helping my mom to cook lunch on busy days. I've done pizza and fried chicken so far. I think they turned out pretty good. I also have started teaching science to my little brothers and one of my cousins, which didn't turn out the best, but was ok.
On Wednesday and Friday I taught English in Wells! We (my mom came too) did it at the church there, and I feel like the two classes I did went well. We did a beginning test to evaluate where they were with each person doing the class for the first time. We did go over a few basic things both times. I was just so surprised by how little material I was able to put in two hours. I was worried we'd run out of things to talk about. I also went to help Brother Thomas with English class in Elko. I can't say I helped him much, but he definitely helped me with some ideas on what I can do in my class.
One big thing I've really enjoyed is the family history work I've started! I have been doing a little bit of indexing, but what I've been doing a lot more is digitizing records that my grandma has. I've been going to my grandparents' house to work on family history. So far I've only digitized a couple of family history documents, but I've really enjoyed it. I want to learn more about my ancestors and how what they went through can help me with the things I go through now. Also, my grandma has started teaching me piano lessons again, and I am really enjoying it. I had missed it!
I've also been to a couple of YSA (Young Single Adult) activities this week. I really liked them! At FHE (Family Home Evening), we played BINGO, and I lost miserably! I still enjoyed it though. Yesterday, we also went to a game night and played soccer. I've never been much of a sports guy, and have never really done soccer. Now I wish that I had, especially in Honduras! I had a blast, and even got to go to Wendy's with my buddy, Benjamin Burcham, afterwards. Good stuff.
Today, my dad and I went to a missionary lesson with the Spanish-speaking sisters, and it went well. We were at the one lesson for two hours, but we got tacos at the end. It was good. It was really great to help teach with my dad, and I really liked hearing him talk about how his conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed his life. We are planning to pick the family up for church tomorrow.
I've been thinking a bit recently on how to include the Atonement of Jesus Christ in what I do, and in general, how can I include Him in my life. It's hard, and it comes little by little. But I think I have definitely started to see it come into my life, or rather how He was there all along. I've grown to appreciate lots of things better.
That's all I've got this time. I hope you all are doing well and taking care of yourselves. May the Lord bless you.
Sincerely,
Élder Cobián
