2nd Scorpion Attack

Image
Hello Everybody! This week has been more interesting than the last. There's been more rain for sure, which is good and bad. Tuesday it rained a lot while we were at the church after lunch for me to practice the piano. A tiny cockroach flew onto my leg. I swiftly dispatched it. There was also a cockroach in our bathroom two weeks ago or so. They both now exist as dust. Anyways, we finally know where Samir lives! But, we still can't find him there 2/3 of the time. We did do a ton of contacting though, which is good. Wednesday morning was Multizone Conference. I met a couple new Elders from the CCM and MTC. It was good to get back to my roots in the good ol' US of A. We went to Santa Ana afterwards, and we just barely missed the bus on the way back to Masica, so we had to wait a little. Thursday we waited for way too long to start, which is not good. We'll definitely be planning better from now on. While doing service for an Adventist family we recently contacted, I almo...

The Talk

Hello everybody! This week has been interesting, in good ways and bad. Also for some reason people occasionally think I'm from China or Japan because of my eyes. Tuesday we went contacting. A couple people in their houses saw me and made eye contact with me, but they never came to open the door. Wednesday we went to Santa Ana and tried to invite the Vargas family to be baptized, but the mom was too busy. Back in La Masica we visited Fabiola and had lychees and green mangoes. lychees are great, but I would much rather wait for the mangoes to ripen. Thursday we went to get money, but both of the ATMs in San Juan were broken, and the only other ones are in La Ceiba, an hour away. I was very frustrated and gave a prayer to know what to do. Before I even finished, I felt it would be alright. We were able to get out money just fine the next day. We did need to use some emergency money for the taxi ride back on Thursday though. Luckily, the driver knows us, and he let us pay after he gav...

Big Bugs and Baptismal Dates

Image
Hello Everybody! If I had a nickel for every time I've been jumped by a cockroach, I'd have 3 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened 3 times. Not this week, but just while I've been here. The first time was at a dinner. It came out of nowhere and ran straight at me. I promptly stomped it to death. The second was during teaching Fabiola's family. It also came out of nowhere, ran at me, and started climbing up my leg. I quickly brushed it off, and it met the same fate. The third one was also outside Fabiola's apartment. It jumped out of a tree onto my head and has since disappeared. If I find it, I will reward it as I did its brethren. On P-Day, I got a haircut. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but when we walked in they were playing "That's Life" and then "Fly Me To The Moon," both by Frank Sinatra. I love those songs! Sadly afterwards they went into some other stuff. Oh well, that's life! My companion an...

Not All Cats Are German

Image
Hello everybody! Before the mission I saw lots of videos saying that all cats would respond to being called in German, so far I've had zero success with that, but all the German I've learned has been from high-school choir, so maybe that's it. I forgot to get my hair cut last week with the power going out and all that. I'm gonna try and do that today before I start getting called Hermana Cobián, because this is ridiculous. Also hopefully before we go to the beach today. Don't ask me why we're going, I have got no clue. Tuesday we were planning to go to several people with a member, but just stopped with one family (the one we did service for before). We were teaching them the first principles of the Gospel and didn't get past faith. I really wish I knew more Spanish so I could have understood more of what was said, but there was a bit of crying and I definitely felt the Spirit. We also visited them last night to give a blessing to the mom cause she's be...
