No Hay Nadie!

 

Hi everybody! How are y'all doing? I hope you've had a good week, 'cause I know I have!

On Monday I played this game called "Oompa," which is a mix between basketball, football, and ultimate frisbee. I absolutely loved it! But the shoes I was wearing are not good for that kind of thing. I got some really big skin peels.

I did a bit of digitizing records this week. I've really come to enjoy it! It's so cool to learn firsthand about my ancestors and all of the things that they went through for me to have a good life today.

On Wednesday I had a pretty busy day! First I helped some folks move, and then helped at the soup kitchen in Elko. I finally taught English class, but kept running out of things! I need to plan better in advance. I did prepare some extra resources for the two who are more advanced in the class, but only one of them even came, and I've been having trouble having them split up to work on different things at the same time.

Friday was my favorite day this week. I got to go to the Twin Falls Temple with my wonderful grandparents. We did endowment and initiatory. I really enjoyed all of it. Afterwards we went to Deseret Book to see about books I could give to my English students (there are now six of them), but they only had two books, and of different levels. I'll see what I can do about that. Finally, we went to Black Bear Diner for lunch, which was amazing! I had the best time every sharing that temple experience with my grandparents.

After our trip, I went to teach English class in Wells, but the problem is that nobody showed up. After I'd cleaned up and got ready to go to the gym, Riller got there. He's a relatively new member who came to my class once, but he wasn't able to after because he was sick. Looking back, I should have offered to teach him something for at least 15 minutes or something, but all I told him was that we'd have class next Wednesday. I'll do better next time something like that happens. Also, Fridays might not be a good day for class. I might change it for another day.

After all that, I went to game-night with the YSA, and it was fun! We played a game called "Gatorball," which is like soccer, except you can carry the ball in your hands if it gets kicked to you. There's also hitting a chair instead of getting it in a goal, and also tagging. After a bit, we just switched over to Oompa again, with which I did score a point!

I've been thinking a lot about integrity lately. It is an attribute I really want to work on. I listened to a very good conference talk about it, which talks about how it is a Christlike Attribute and flows from the First and Second Great Commandments.  I'm gonna work on it a lot now.

Cross-Country Fish

  Hello everybody! I hope that you've all had a good week. I know I have. Last week we did feeding as usual, except we now have Elder Anderson. He misses home, but has done well here so far. We've started feeding on a big flatbed truck instead of a tractor pulling a trailer, and I don't like it as much. The bed is higher so it's harder to climb on. Also, I feel the bumps a lot more. Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers. We've also done a lot of fence work together. There have been a couple posts to gates that have been destroyed, so we redid those. We do still have a bit of fencing to do and redo. Today we had a fish fry! Elder Caldwell, a senior service missionary, caught salmon and halibut while visiting Alaska, and we all got some at his party. I just don't know how he got it so far without it going bad. I've got a new favorite job to do! I'm not sure if I like it any more than my other favorite jobs. It's chopping wood. It's really relaxing...

Nana's Wedding

  So for those of you that don't know, I grew up calling my older sister Nana instead of her name Liliana. She got married last Friday, which is pretty great. I got to come away from the ranch and visit my family and be there for her wedding. It's all good stuff. After my family picked me up, we went to Lehman Caves, which is near the ranch here. Digging bull thistle is still going strong. Pivot 7 had a massive patch of it that took us half a week to get through. Last that I checked, the cows are still in our handline field, destroying sprinkler heads and all that jazz. They also brought in legions of flies and gnats that are very annoying, but oh well. Actually, now that I'm back, the cows are gone. The horseflies have become ten times worse now. Cool. I've just gotten into the book of Alma, which has a lot of war stuff in the Book of Mormon. Winter Allergies

  Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't written in a while. I hope that you've all been well and keeping yourselves safe. Even though I haven't been writing, I have been working! I know it's not a surprise since I'm serving on a ranch, but we've been doing a lot of stuff with cows. We shipped off about 250 of them to the other ranch, and received about 30 calves from there. Feeding has also sped up a lot, and we're doing a ton of it. I never thought I'd have allergies in January. It's also been getting very cold at times. I heard it'll only get worse in calving season. Lovely. I've also got my own assigned project of rebuilding a brace and fixing its fence. It's been very satisfying so far to do it right. We've had to redo quite a few parts, but it's been worth it. I've been working on trying to improve my peacemaking skills, that definitely starts with myself. I am trying to do and be better with how I am towards my companions. I s...
