Busy and Bright

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you've had a great couple of weeks. I've been doing well. Just very busy. I've spent most of the week dragging a chain with a big tractor to break up cow pies and helping build a fence. My handline is set up for watering my part of a field. It has some small problems I still need to work at, but it's come a long way! I had a very crazy P-day last week. We decided to go to town because my comps forgot some things when we went to St. George, and we couldn't find other things at Walmart there. After some errands and shopping, we went to McDonald's. I was very disappointed by the size of the burger I got. Oh well. After we got back, we moved our handlines. We planned to have plenty of time to go to an Easter concert that I was singing in. I was going to have practice for about 45 minutes before it, but at the last minute, Cade (the ranch manager) asked us to feed new cows we got. I didn't get to practice, but the concert still went well....

St. George Temple!

Hello everybody! I hope you've all had a great week, I know I have! I hardly even worked with wood this week. Instead, I mostly dug holes for fence braces and learned how to drive a tractor for dragging. A couple of the Davis kids, Ret and Oren (I think that's how to spell it?), are interested in my 3d printer. It's been really fun to show it to them and make them a couple things. I would recommend never buying a chainsaw from STIHL. It doesn't want to keep tension on the chain, even when it's only a year old. It's super marshy here, so when I was digging the holes, I dug down like two feet, and the bottom started to flood. Super cool. There's also fun little mice and frogs in the fields. On Friday we got up super early to help Elder Lund move his handline (handlines for Elder Enrico and for me haven't been set up yet) so we could go help some friends put in a mainline that'll connect to some wheel-lines and some other stuff. They fed us lunch and ...

Wood and Fire

Image
Hello everybody! I hope that you all have had a good couple of weeks. Sorry that I didn't write last week. I forgot and then procrastinated writing that email until today. I have dragged so much wood into burn piles this week and burned them. It's gotten very repetitive. The wood also tore dome holes in my fancy gloves. It's weird that the cheaper gloves are tougher. On Monday I did a lot of that wood, and so did Greg (a single senior service missionary--alliteration not intended). Its super boggy here, so he wasn't expecting the fire to try and spread through the grass to the dead trees nearby. Well, it did. We tried putting it out, but with only two buckets, there wasn't much we could do. Now I'm cleaning all that up because there are two live trees right there. I've finally learned how to change oil and clean air filters on a four-wheeler. Took me long enough. I've also replaced the wheel gearbox on a pivot, so I'm learning a lot about mechanical ...
