Hello everybody! I forgot to tell you all about this last week, so I will now. Last Sunday we were walking to teach with a member and we went by a birthday party for a little boy that was firefighter themed. Before we'd passed by, they invited us to come have some soda. Before I knew it, we were sitting down with kabobs, cake, and more soda (I really don't like how much soda we're drinking). They were super hospitable to us, and they said if we needed anything, we could ask them. So that was super fun! Now with this week, I didn't get everything done I wanted to with P-Day, but it was still so busy! One thing I was very pleased with was the Little Caesar's here. In the CCM we had Little Caesar's, but it was all microwaved and not that good. The pizzas here are still about 5 dollars! I hadn't had breakfast that day, so I got two and downed a whole one (my companion was impressed) and brought the other one back home to eat for breakfast for a few days. Norma...

Week 10

¡Buenas! That's what we say at every house or pulpería instead of knocking, so I couldn't help but put it in this time. This week was full of meetings! I found out the one from last week was called zone council. We then had Multizone Conference, District Council, and Exchanges again! I was with an Elder Brown this time; he's very cool.  Some good food was definitely involved this week. I got to have Wendy's for breakfast at zone conference, and I forgot to tell you all that I got to try the legendary Shrek Popsicle last week. I'd kill for another one now. Sometimes we're able to find Javier, and sometimes not. I don't know if that's on purpose or not, but he'd better buck up! His baptismal date is on Saturday! Friday we did service for a member by raking up grass clippings and mango leaves from her yard because that's where they were gonna sell the carne asada for a fundraiser so they can go to the San Pedro Sula Temple Open House. I feel like ...

Week 9

Hello everybody! I'm still getting used to the mission field here in La Masica, there's plenty of heat, rain, and annoying dogs to make it a challenge! Despite these things, there have definitely already been some rewarding moments. We have our first person set for a baptismal date! After two lessons! His name is Javier. He is very enthusiastic and always cheerful. I'll add a picture of him as soon as I take it. Please pray for him. I've heard it said that after someone commits to be baptized (or really do anything good) that Satan works double-time on them. So please, pray. On Wednesday I had my first zone conference! It was in La Ceiba, and it was pretty good--good except for the piano playing, which was done by me. I was playing before it started to prepare to play this last Sunday in sacrament meeting, and then they asked me to play. I could not get a hymn book to stay open, so I was messily playing with one hand while trying to hold the darned thing in place. We ...

Week 8

Hello everybody! I'm actually out on my mission now! It's definitely an interesting experience so far. I guess I'll start with my arrival. As soon as we met the mission president, his wife, and assistants, he gave us a Book of Mormon and told us to give it to someone. I was a little nervous, but his secretary (an Elder Green) helped me. He explained about the book, and I bore my testimony and gave it to the guy. It was good. I learned that the rules for this mission are pretty strict, but it's not too much of a problem for me. I talked with the mission president and they're strict for a good reason. I am in a town called La Masica. It is really pretty and green. It rains a lot, and it amazes me how it can be rainy and hot at the same time, but it is. My companion is Élder Rubén (same first name as me) Patón. He is 27 years old and is from Bolivia. He speaks a little English, and we use Google Translate to help us along. He's a cool guy and a good missionary.  I...
