When Will You Learn!?!?!?

Image
Hello everybody! This week has had a lot of ups and downs. One day we have the best numbers in the district, and then we have nearly nothing but zeros. One day we're all getting along just fine, the next we only send our daily reports by audio messages instead of video calls because my companion got into a fight with the district leader. Ni modo, we move on. We dropped Gerson and Jafeth yesterday. It's really sad because they've been coming to church nearly every Sunday and watching thr Book of Mormon Videos on their own! But Gerson says that he doesn't like our church. Of course he doesn't tell us why, but oh well. My companion noted that there are two big problems people have with understanding. It's either that they don't understand the need of authority, or that they do not realize that not just anyone can have authority. I need to focus on simplifying how I teach and finding out more of what it is that people need to learn. I'll get it! I had exchan...

Hurricane Sara

Image
Hello everybody! This week was interesting. There was a hurricane that hit, although very far away from us. The only thing we got from it was a LOT of rain! The main street flooded Friday night again. We'd done a service project clearing up dirt that had built up from the last time it flooded, but this week all of our work had been undone. Oh well. It's sad to me that some people who start out progressing so well and so quickly can come to a screeching halt. Whenever we try to do anything good at any time, Satan redoubles his efforts to thwart our good plans. He's already lost, so he wants us to be sad like he is. I've seen some really good progress too! And not where I'd expect it. Eliana Mejía, the daughter of Marta Mejía said that she wants to be a missionary like we are! It's humbling to know that there are people who watch me, and see me as an example. I need to be a better example. We found a Victor and an Erickson (lots of Victors here). We hadn't r...

Sad News, Iguanas for Dinner, and Axes

Image
Hello everybody! Sad news first: Our ward mission leader passed away. His name is Hermano Hinmer. He was in a severe accident with another motorcyclist on Saturday. We heard he died in the hospital Sunday morning. Please keep his family and the others affected by the accident in your prayers. Most people here cannot afford cars so they drive motorcycles. We really need to find more people. I hope we can. Tuesday and Wednesday were basically extra P-Days because my companion was sick. I wish I had spent my time better, actually studied more like I had planned, but unfortunately I mostly just dinked around and wasted time. I feel like there's some kind of pattern to us not having water, but I don't know. It seems to skip a few days and come back before, during, or after P-Day. So we didn't wash clothes until Thursday. I'm glad I have extra clothes and can handwash. We've been visiting a lot of less-active members lately. I think we can get some of them back, but so ...

Rain and No Water

Image
Hello Everybody! I don't know how those two (rain and no water) are possible, but we haven't had water for the last three days. I was all out of clean pants yesterday (they were all muddy), and I ended up wearing my blue jeans (for p-days) to church. Luckily, I hand-washed some pants today, and I've got enough clean clothes to last 2-4 days. It feels like less and less people actually are paying attention when we teach them. I would much rather have them speak their minds and tell us they're not interested. We were worried that we'd have to drop our Social Media reference friend (Martha) because she has seemed less and less interested. However, we did a member lesson with her this week, and she came to church yesterday! So I still have hope for her. Jerson and Jafeth have been steadily coming to church, I think it's funny that they then go to Evangelical church in the afternoon. Props to them for having commitment! Please pray for them to find answers to their p...
