Zone Conference in Nevada
I hope that you all are doing okay. I've had a week! Good things definitely happened, and it was super busy out here! I had to go to town every single day! I missed being able to go to my grandparents' to work on family history. I hope I'll get to do a lot more of that this week.
On Monday, I helped my little brothers with homeschool because my mom had to go to Elko. I took Omar to band and then hung out in Wells with my brothers. We visited our friend and ward member, Lanny Bates, and had a very nice time with him. H's a great guy, and he told us about some cool crystal caves that we should go to some time for youth activity.
Monday evening, nobody came to English class. I went to Family Home Evening at the YSA branch. We played Gator-ball, which is a lot like soccer. It was alright, but I feel like I was too aggressive. Other people were being aggressive too, but that's no excuse for me. Overall, it still was fun.
On Tuesday, I got to help with FBLA regionals. I did FBLA when I was in high school, so that was nice. I helped set up and then ran errands delivering the judges' folders for judging the competitions. It all went well until I started feeling sick. Not good. I went to Walmart to get a coke (my mom said it would help, and it did, a little) and I picked up her groceries while I was at it. I felt better, but only by a little. I went home early, and my mom got a ride with my aunt Marianne, who judged competitions along with my mom.
On Wednesday, I taught English class, and this time people came. It went well. I also helped the Spanish Elders at FISH and we filled bags again, but differently. It took longer than usual, but they gave us root beer.
I was in Elko for all of Thursday. I went to Zone Conference in the US for the first time, and it was interesting. Every mission has a different culture. There was a big focus on numbers and how our mission is doing compared to other ones in Nevada and our area. The conference went well, and I really liked what the APs did before lunch with a Kahoot. It had some silly, and then practical questions, but it also had some serious gospel-related ones. Of course, those ones didn't count points. I felt the Spirit during that part for sure. We were served lunch, which was great.
After Zone Conference, I waited in town and did a bunch of Family History (Name Review) until I helped with English Connect for Pathway. This time, I was in charge of setting up and timing the breakout rooms, which was actually kinda fun. That night I went to Institute class and helped clean the stake center.
On Friday I was going to donate blood, but they said I couldn't because it's been too soon since being in a 3rd world country, and I could have brought Malaria. I also helped with English class and picked up another Walmart pickup order for my mom while she donated blood (I've gotten super good at that).
I've learned a bit recently about how we are children of God. That is unchangeable. The Love of God is also unchangeable. He loves us, even when we don't recognize or feel it. So many things in our lives can change: both for good and bad, but God's love for us, and our eternal identity, are not part of them.
I hope you all are doing well this week, and not getting sick (Like I am, I've got a sore throat & coughing). May the Lord bless you.
Sincerely,
Elder Cobian
