Christmas Time

 Hello everybody!

I kicked a dog. Yes, I did. I absolutely do not regret it. It happened Thursday. Elder Valdovinos and I were waiting to go inside a house for a lesson with our friend Melvin, because his family went to go get him. There was his old, half blind (in his right eye), grandpa who we'd met a couple days before trying to eat outside of the family's pulperia. There were two dogs trying to steal his food. We "shoo-ed" them away, but one kept coming back. It eventually started growling and barking at us. At one point it suddenly ran under the bench the old guy was sitting on and was up against the wall. We got right up close to each other. It tried to bite me, and I kicked it right in the chin with my combat boot! It felt so good. I absolutely hate the dogs here. 10/10 would recommend kicking an aggressive and annoying street dog near you.

On Wednesday I went on exchanges with Elder Murphy. It was really good. Although, Elder Rosario (his companion) planned the day, and he scheduled a bunch of random people that have been marked as "not interested" in our lists. Needless to say, a bunch of lessons fell through. A bunch of crazy things happened in my area, like putting a baptismal date on hermana Vilma! She's the mother of a recent convert who moved to live with her dad. We had thought she'd moved too, and she did, but only across the street. I feel like all the crazy things happen when I'm not around.

Back with Thursday, the ward had a Christmas dinner! It was good. They played some games which I wanted to do when invited, but only if my comp went. He didn't go, so we just sat there. The dinner itself was good, and we got some great desserts to go! The Santa that came had some crazy Catrachan dance moves.

We got transfer news. I'm staying here again, with the same companion (Élder Valdovinos), which is weird because we thought things would change up. It will be good.

I gave a talk at church yesterday. My spiritual thought is going to be a quote I used in it. My talk was about the sacrament, and how important it is that we respect it. Elder Jeffrey R.  Holland said "We are to remember in as personal a way as possible that Christ died from a heart broken by shouldering entirely alone the sins and sorrows of the whole human family. Inasmuch as we contributed to that fatal burden, such a moment demands our respect."

My challenge for everyone is to look for how you can better respect the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He gave Himself up for us; what can we do for him?

That's all I've got. I hope you all are doing well. May the Lord bless you.

Sincerely,
Élder Cobián
