Rain, Service, and No Water (Again)

Elder Valdovinos and I enjoying the swings

Hello everybody!

This week it has rained a lot. I really miss my umbrella that I left in the mission office.

We didn't have any water last night. Hopefully, it'll come back on tonight because we don't have a lot left. It came back for a little this morning, but that didn't last long and was very dirty.

We are kind of starting over in this area. We've found out for sure that the other elders before us were only focused on big numbers and not on the names behind them. There were so many people that had only been taught once, and never followed up on. They also would stop teaching recent converts, who become inactive if not supported. If you are a missionary reading this, or going to serve a mission: don't do that. What good will it be to you if you baptize a thousand, but none of them have been really converted? What if you yourself are not converted?

Aside from that, we have found a good group of people who have some real promise. We just have to follow through with them and their commitments. I hope that I'll be here this next transfer to see it.

We had a very nice lesson with a social media referral, it was hard finding where she lived with rain, darkness, and bad directions, but I'm glad we did. We had a very good lesson with her.

Right after the referral, we were walking in the rain, and a guy asked us for help with his car that was stuck in the mud. After helping him get turned around, he asked if we'd had dinner yet. Of course we hadn't. He offered to buy us dinner, and while we were waiting for the food, he offered us a ride, which was also very much needed because of the half-hour long walk in the rain. He got us each a baleada (it was gonna be two for each, but we were in a hurry and left the other bag behind). The food and the unexpected ride was a wonderful miracle to experience.

Because of the miracles we've seen this week, one scripture comes to mind: D&C 88:84, which reads:
"And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."

We always need to remember that we are on the Lord's errand, He will be with us, and will help us do whatever it is that He's asked of us.

Welp. That does it. I hope you are all having a good time. For some reason I keep being mistaken for Chinese with surprising frequency, which is interesting. Take care, and may God bless you.
