Week 5

Hello everybody! This week has had a few very interesting experiences. I auditioned for and got to perform a musical piece for Devotional this Tuesday.

The piece was "I Know that my Savior Loves Me" with the first verse in English, and the second one in Spanish. In the performance I had the music on my phone for convenience. In the transition between verses, my phone turned off! I turned it back on in time, but the music wasn't there. It turns out that the Sacred Music app doesn't work the same as Gospel Library in downloading anything that you look at (I had wifi turned off because they ask us to for Devotional). So I had to close the app, turn on wifi, reopen the app, search up the music, and switch the language to Spanish. When it was time for the second verse, I started singing "I don't remember the words" in Spanish (no recuerdo las palabras). People laughed  a little, and then it was a bit awkward as I scrambled for the words. I am very blessed in that my accompanist, Elder Stander, is very talented and well trained. He pulled this improvisation out of nowhere that really saved the piece. After the incident, I finished singing and it went well. I even got asked to sing a solo for the choir the week I leave the CCM! I'm very excited for that. Lots of people have come up to me and said that it was good, and even that the mistake made it more meaningful. I was also extremely humbled through this experience. It is one of many that testifies to me that even when things don't go the way we want, God is there to lift us up.

I got to go to the temple for an endowment session again this week. It was nice that I had enough time after to visit the visitor's center afterwards, although we didn't spend a lot of time there.

Another fun adventure I had was a class activity where my companion and I ran around to as many native Spanish Speakers to invite them to pray. Our whole district did this, but we won! One of our teachers is going to bring us some kind of snack, hopefully tomorrow?
